Lower Fort Garry

Well, this didn't quite work out the way I was hoping. I was trying to include some Aurora Borealis in this photo, but it never materialized. The northern lights were in the forcast, as was the clear sky. Warm too, enough for my sissy toes. The perfect storm.

Oh well. I did manage a couple good night shots, with some stars. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Pratt's Food Service

My photography was published in February's edition of Your Food Service Manager magazine. Pratt's Food Service in Winnipeg was due for a spot in the magazine. I shot the guys, the showroom, and the pride of Pratt's, Bistro 101. Check the article on page 39 for details about Pratt's Food Service.

If you have a business, and you need some commercial shots done, drop me a line.

Here's some shots that didn't end up in the magazine:

Special thanks to Jason, and Raymond, for their patience, and Britt Wilen for setting up the shoot.

Spring Thaw

I have a hunch that the back of Winter will break soon. I can't wait! This is a moment that probably totally eludes many readers who are not from around these parts. For those people, let me just say that there is nothing like a Winnipeg Winter. The cold lasts 5-6 months out of the year, and when the sun finally warms the ground enough for the big thaw, things move quick. The snow melts, the ice breaks up, the animals come out of their holes, and the migrant birds arrive. Loads of opportunity for those of us stricken with the photography bug! I for one can not wait for another Spring.

For the parents out there, just a reminder to have a good strong talk with your loved ones about the dangers of deep, fast, or cold water. It is very tempting for young people with not much experience to tempt fate. Please help to avert any more tragedies. We see too many of them around here.

Hopefully the thaw is slow enough to avert the big floods that are a strong possibility this year. If you have any flood related sights that you want photographed for free, drop me a line and I'll do my best to post them.

Stay safe.

My honey made me meatloaf wellington the other night, and it turned out fantastic! Just had to share.

Study in Black and White

I have to admit, I have not done a lot of black and white work in the past. I have however been slowly gaining a respect for the black and white side of things. I am starting to understand just what it is that makes it so pleaseing to the eye. I am also learning things from the people who have been doing it for a long time, like people like Ted Forbes. Also the work of Ansel Adams is quite inspiring, and humbling.

Here for all to see is my first baby steps into this world. I look forward to adding some more in the near future.

Enjoy!
